There are so many reasons that
dental insurance and discount
dental plans are important. One of the top reasons that people
do not get the dental care they need is because of the cost of the
dental visit. When people are self-employed, going to school or
working only part time they often don’t have an option to
buy a dental insurance plan. Instead of looking for one it can be
something that is just put to the side and we don’t think
about it until we suddenly have a toothache.
The thing to remember is that the human mouth contains more then
350 types of bacteria. Left to their devices these nasty little
brutes will wreak havoc on more than just your teeth, and in a society
where image is so important that would be enough. With students
that don’t get their regular check ups the California state
dental association has said “Children with cavities are more
likely to eat poorly, stop smiling and not learn properly.”
In addition to this there have been many studies done on the hours
of work and school missed due to oral health issues. The studies
consistently find that people that miss work for regular dental
check ups miss less work over the span of a year due to other illnesses.
Some states are now passing laws, making dental insurance available
to low income families, stating that children going into kindergarten
must have a check up at the dentist before starting school in the
hopes that this will increase good oral health awareness. The physical
aspects of oral care studies has shown that if you are diabetic
and have a mouth infection it often causes disruption in the blood-sugar
levels making the diabetes harder to control. There is also a connection
to certain kinds of pneumonia. Some researchers believe there may
be a connection from gum disease to stroke, heart disease and low
birth weight. Dental insurance is worth the time to find and the
cost.
